Senate Minority leader James Orengo has put unprecedented vicious fight against President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga's peace deal, a move that is reportedly causing tension within the ODM party.

At Kisumu on Tuesday,  Orengo warned that ODM party will not be party to 'cruel' marriage if the government is not ready to respect law.

"The law must be respected all the time.  We can't allow Raila's reputation to erode just because of handshake," he said.

But multiple sources within Orange House claim that the seasoned Siaya senator is not happy for his exclusion from the peace deal.

Yet again, some argue that Orengo is positioning himself to inherit the vote rich Luo Nyanza in the event Raila exits the scene.

"He is not happy for his exclusion from the deal and he's determined to play a major role before its implementation," said an insider.

During the March handshake,  Raila only appeared at Harambee House with Suna East Junet Mohammed and his daughter Winnie.

And to show that Raila may have lost confidence in Orengo, he seems to have consulted Kisumu governor Anyang' Nyong'o, who travelled with Uhuru to Cuba recently.

"Orengo may no longer be Odinga's trusted adviser. He is fighting back so that by using the handshake,  he wins support from those opposed to it. By doing that,  he again bulding his base in Nyanza," added another insider.

Multiple sources intimate that Orengo declined Raila's plea to drop plot to ouster Moses Wetangula as Senate Minority Leader, another indication that all is not well.

But ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire has dismissed the speculations,  saying all will be well once the deal is full implemanted.

"Yes most people are not aware of the content but all will be well soon," he said.
