Claims by Wiper deputy party leader Faarah Maalim that the party leader Kalonzo Musyoka could be considering looking for a better political outfit to front him signals a bad beginning for his bid for the presidency as it is certainly without a prospect and would make citizens deem him totally disloyal, untrustworthy and indecisive.
First of all, the larger part of the NASA fraternity is already unhappy, and is referring to Mr Musyoka as a traitor and coward for not turning out to take oath on January 30 alongside NASA principal Raila Odinga. In addition, the coalition in most of its address in the media alleges to be fighting for electoral reforms that would bring about electoral justice, of which if not achieved, he has no hopes of becoming president because the election process will be flawed as the coalition claims.
Therefore, in his most prudent resolution should embrace drumming up support for NASA coalition’s battle for a fair electoral process that will premise his plan of vying as president and possibly win.
Moreover, he needs to remember that Kenyans, especially with the prevailing civil strife, need a leader who can prove to be loyal and committed to their fastidious demands, who is courageous and selfless, which he seems to his current supporters not to have after he later portrayed the NASA oath taking process as unlawful by first skipping it.
Although he is caught between a rock a hard place of what if he stays and the coalition fronts somebody else other than him come 2022, exiting, however, is not a wise option he can take with electoral malpractices at the helm of the process and losing his support base would be at stake.
