The national government has been urged to expand the Kisii main prison.
Speaking at Kisii main prison, prison officer Benjamin Boit noted that the current building is congested since it holds more that 1000 inmates instead of the expected capacity of 500.
He said the congestion is not friendly to inmates and ask the national government to expand the building to lower the congestion
“The building is so small and a massive congestion we ask our government to expand it to give inmates the room instead of congesting themselves,” added Boit.
Boit also challenged courts to allow those who have small cases not to be sent to the prison to counter the congestions in prisons
“Their are some who have small cases I urge our courts not to send them to prison but to settle tha matter in court to reduce congestion in prison cells,” added Boitt.
