A Nakuru woman was on Sunday admitted at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital following her attempt to commit suicide as a result of a domestic disagreement with her husband.
Reports indicate that 27-year-old Cynthia Njoki set herself ablaze at their house in Langalanga estate after the husband came back home late and failed to explain the Saturday night lateness.
Neighbours said that Ms Njoki took the action after she suspected that her husband was having an extramarital affair with another woman.
"She suspected her husband was having a relationship with another lover," said a neighbour.
Speaking from her hospital bed, Njoki said that she took the action because of anger.
"When he came back on Sunday evening, he picked a quarrel after I asked him where he had been. I was angry and decided to end my life by burning myself," she said.
Medics at the hospital revealed that Njoki sustained 45 per cent burns on her face, hands, abdomen and thighs and that she had already developed breathing problems by the time of admission.
She has since been put on proteins and doctors are monitoring her recuperation.
