A section of Nakuru youths now want the national government to make good its promise of reviving the stalled NYS programme in the country.
Allan Oderi said it has been a while since President Uhuru Kenyatta pledged to bring back the projects which was a hope for many of the beneficiaries and its high time he brings it to pass.
‘The President promised to bring the projects back. Despite the many controversies that bedevilled the programme, let the NYS projects be revived,’ said Allan.
The NYS projects were intended to the improve economic status of thousands of unemployed youth.
‘The president promised to create jobs for the youths when he visited Nakuru in 2013. He understands how the youths here hustle to put food on the table. But he has not worked to fulfill the promise. Right now, the tractors and dust bins which had been donated by the government through the NYS project are lying idle. They are just rusting, no one bothers about them. I wonder why the project can’t be revived as promised earlier,’ added Catherine Andanje.
