Nyambati, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, lost an earlier challenge at the High Court thus filing a challenge in the Appeal's Court.

And the last minute introduction of Uhuru's lawyer Fred Ngatia in the case saw the veteran politician parting with the aforesaid amount.

"He is an expensive lawyer and our team was ready to give everything to overturn tables. We trust in him and that is why we sought for his services.

"Initially, he has asked Sh20 million that is why we did not invite him at the High Court. Our team is satisfied with his brief appearance at Kisumu," said an insider who spoke in confidence.

Ngatia joined seasoned lawyer Osoro Mogikoyo in the appeal and quashed High Court ruling besides defending Nyambati's decision to file notice of appeal at the lower court.

"Yes we may have made that slight mistake but equally, the other side failed to challenge it within the stipulated timeline of 7 days," said Mogikoyo.

However, Mogikoyo declined to comment on the legal fee charged by Ngatia insisting that it is a breach of client confidentiality.
