As part of his wider plan o cement support in Rift Valley region ahead of 2022 polls, deputy president William Ruto is said to be keen to have Turkana governor Josephat Nanok as one of his key players in 2022 race.

While the deal between the two is yet to be made public, they have however been seen attending functions together is the past few months.

Just within this month, Ruto attended Turkana Cultural Festivals and the governor reciprocated by accompanying him to opening of Eldoret City Marathon.

In an event, Turkana South MP James Lomenen, a staunch critic of Nanok, asked DP Ruto to appoint Naonk as his deputy.

"Nanok has steered the county well. When he is done with the two terms, he is qualified to be your running mate."

Despite pushing the county to vote for Raila Odinga in 2017 elections, Nanok has however minimised his relationship with Odinga lately.

On Tuesday, Loima MP Jeremiah Lomurukai, said ODM leaders from the county are keen to work with Ruto ahead of 2022 polls.

"We have decided to work and unite with the DP because we feel he understands our plights as pastrolists," he said.

Although Ruto is yet to unveil Nanok's position, he however revealed that he is keen to work with him in future.

"I have heard what you said and I know Nanok as a strongman. We shall work together to improve the livelihoods of our people."

During the elections of COG, it is said that Ruto plotted Nanok's election as the chair despite ODM having fear governors.
