Ex-Kiambu governor William Kabogo would be some day lead the country should he join hands with leaders from other communities, Raila Odinga has reportedly told him.
Since entering a unity deal with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila has met leaders particularly those from Central Kenya, who have been his fiercest critics.
And on Tuesday, the two leaders met at Capital Hill, where Raila is said to have been impressed with Kabogo's development record as governor.
"He was categorically clear that Kabogo could be the country's leader in future if he works with leaders from other communities," a source said in confidence.
The source further said: "They shared light moments about the deal with Uhuru and Raila noted Kabogo's trans-formative ability, alluding to his period as governor."
In a closely contested race, kabogo lost to Ferdinand Waititu, whom he had accused of being helped by Deputy President William Ruto to win Jubilee primaries.
While it is not clear whether or not Raila will contest in 2022, insiders say the deal will allow him to exit the scene having build on his legacy along with Uhuru.
