Disagreements between Orange House owner Caroli Mondi and ODM chairman John Mbadi resulted to the former's decision to evict the party from his premises, it has now emerged.
But in a rejoinder sent to the media, ODM Chief Executive Oduor Ong'wen refuted claims that the party had been kicked out of the premises they have occupied for the last decade.
"We wish to confirm that the tenancy of our National Secretariat at Orange House will come to an end on December 31, 2018 and by mutual consent, we have agreed not to renew it.
"The National Secretariat will thus relocate to a new address at the end of the year," he said adding that the owner, Mr. Omondi, intends to build a multi-storey building.
But an insider who spoke in confidence, confirms that political differences between Omondi and Mr. Mbadi triggered the unexpected announcement.
According to him, Omondi has never forgiven Mbadi, who he accuses of rigging him out in party nominations in Suba South last year.
"It is just differences between Mbadi and Omondi. He accuses Mbadi of rigging him and even blocking him from contesting in 2017. That is the reason why the party is being kicked out."
After a closely contested nominations, Omondi was blocked from switching parties having violated 'Political Parties Regulations', something he still blames Mbadi of orchestrating.
Still bitter of the outcome, Omondi would later back his own brother, Peter Ocholla of Ford Kenya, who contested against the ODM chair.
Between 2008-13, Omondi served as Raila Odnga's Chief of Staff in the office of the PM having also served as his PA for many years.
