The confusion surrounding handshake is the main reason behind the decision by Raila Odinga to urgently summon ODM members for a meeting on Tuesday.
In recent weeks, a section of ODM legislators have embraced Deputy President William Ruto further creating anxiety within the Orange party.
Party treasurer Timothy Bosire said the party has set programmes which will educate members about what is entailed in the handshake.
"The party leader is aware of the confusion. The handshake is the reason why our people seem to be unsettled and this is the reason behind the meeting.
"We shall educate them on what to do and all these will be settled. We also want to give them directions on engagment with our rivals. People like Ruto have hijacked the handshake and started courting our members," said the former Kitutu Masaba MP.
Further, the meeting will also whip leaders who have reportedly been backing Ruto, who has already descended on regions that are perceived to be ODM strongholds.
Yet again, Raila is also expected to formally inform members whether or not he will be on ballot in 2022 polls. Coastal and western regions have been under Ruto's onslaught, a reason why Raila has panicked.
