The Kenya National Union of Teachers Eldoret West Branch secretary general Kipchumba Arusei has urged the Ministry of Education to extend the period of painting all school buses yellow.
The Eldoret West KNUT boss said most schools in the county have not complied with the directives due to the short period that was given.
“I support this move but I want to call upon the Ministry of Education to at least extend the period for one month since the painting of buses is very costly and most schools cannot afford,” he said in Eldoret town, Friday.
“Painting of one bus costs approximately sh 90,000-100,000,” added Arusei.
He further urged the government to give schools the exact yellow color that they are supposed to paint on their buses.
“As am talking we have seen many yellow shade colors in the county, they should give us one yellow that will be a uniform failure to which we will not see the yellow the government could have intended,” noted the Eldoret West KNUT boss.
This comes as the dateline given by the Ministry of Education for all buses to be painted yellow is expected to elapse on March 31.
