Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has asked Nakuru County government under Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to provide local investors business friendly incentives as a sustainable way of encouraging local investment.
The Bahati legislature who was speaking to the media at Bahati Stitching Plant in Nakuru on Saturday after the launch of a mentorship programme set to help young women in developing their vocational training skills stated that the move will help encourage local investors to invest more in the region to help improve living standards of people.
"The government cannot be able to cater for the employment of people in the region, therefore, our first priority into this is the private sector. This is why we are asking the governor Kunithia Mbugua to help boost local investors who will create more job opportunities for people" Ngunjiri stated.
The Bahati MP also appealed to county government to invest in transport and communication infrastructure to aid in up-scaling local investment.
Ngunjiri also called on other corporate entities to come up and support youth by empowering their various skills.
"This is a noble task that will give youth opportunity to cater for their basic needs," Ngunjiri stated about the mentorship project launched in the stitching plant.
"Other private organizations should also follow the same course and empower youth across the country. This will be key in managing the unemployment rates which are on the increase in this country."
