Parents in Nyamira want the third term extended to cover time lost when teachers were on strike.
They said extending the term will enable pupils and students cover the syllabus.
Speaking to this writer on Thursday, the parents also said extending the term will allow learners revise and prepare for exams well.
Daniel Sunda, a parent's representative said learners were not ready to sit for the end of year exams because they were unprepared.
“Learning in private schools went on smoothly as the teachers’ strike paralysed schooling in government schools," he said.
"It will be unfair to subject these learners to similar national examinations."
The recent teachers strike that teacher's unions called off lasted for one month, affecting learning in public schools across the country.
By the time Knut and Kuppet called off the strike, most people said the third term be extended to cover time lost during the strike.
It is however not know whether the Education Ministry will bow to pressure from parents and extend the term to allow learners prepare for the final exams.
