Dennis Muigai Ngegi made headlines last year after claiming to be an eyewitness in two high profile accidents.

Ngegi has now been sentenced to serve one and a half years in prison for impersonation by a Kwale court.

He had been charged with impersonating a KDF captain in ukunda, Kwale county in 2015 but skipped the bail.

On Thursday, Ngegi pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to one and a half years in prison.

Resident Magistrate Patrick Wambugu did not give him the option of paying a fine.

Ngegi claimed to have witnessed the accident at Kabati which saw the death of the former Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru.

Also, Ngegi had also been at the scene of the helicopter crash that killed five people who were to attend a Jubilee rally.

It would later emerge that Ngegi was a wanted criminal leading to his arrest in Ruiru, few days after Gakuru's death. Ngegi is expected to serve his term at the Kwale GK prison.
