Former Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, who is now the State House Comptroller, has raised eyebrows after visiting Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko.
Sonko has been lamenting that there are forces within State House that are out to 'control' him.
Days before his deputy Polycarp Igathe hanged the boots, a local paper had splashed a major story on how the city has two centres of power; one at State House and another coalescing around Sonko.
Kinuthia is among the 'old chips' who are believed to be fixing Uhuru's second term in office with their eyes trained on a good legacy.
Social media users 'warned' Sonko after he shared his pictures with Kinuthia saying he had visited to familiarize himself with the city.
"Statehouse Comptroller Kinuthia Mbugua on Wednesday, 11th April, 2018, paid a courtesy call to the Office of The Governor at City Hall. The visit was part of his familiarization tour of the Nairobi City County departments," Sonko said.
His fans said Kinuthia might be out to influence the choice of the next deputy governor.
"Hope he doesn't come to 'control' the only independent governor in Kenya," Mbete Wa Muiya Felix said.
"Mt Kenya mafia want to control you and the city, be warned Sonko," Brian O'eri said.
