Addressing journalists in Mombasa at the Kenya School of Government on Wednesday, Mutua said they might ban a gospel song "Yesu Nipe Nyoyo" on grounds of being blasphemous.

"Our artists need to be creative. There is a song called 'Yesu Nipe Nyonyo' doing rounds on social media. The content lucks creativity. I cannot get the message from this alleged gospel song as it amounts to blasphemy,” said Mutua.

“Some of these things are happening because artists know their controversial and crazy content will be aired,” he added.

He promised to take legal action against the artiste, if the song is found to violate the board's classification guidelines.

“If we find that the song actually does not fit our classification guidelines, we will ask YouTube to pull it down,” he said.

He said the board will not take the issue lightly, adding that they will treat it with the seriousness its deserves.
