As of March, Facebook introduced 600 hotspots across Kenya which provides affordable Internet to its subscribers.
According to Surf Kenya, Express Wi-Fi hotspots have been switched on in Eldoret, Naivasha, Nakuru, Mtwapa, Kisumu, Mombasa and Nairobi with plans to introduce Wi-Fi hotspots in Western, Coastal and Central Kenya.
Technical University of Kenya, KCA and Zetech are an example of the universities that have benefited from the introduction of Facebook’s Wi-Fi hotspots.
Express Wi-Fi reportedly provides more affordable internet services than most internet providers across the country.
“Our success in the market to date is that we are offering a high speed, high quality Internet hotspot service at a very affordable rate to consumers — particularly in public areas near where they work and go for entertainment. Additionally, our local retailer partners who host and sell our service have made it easy to get the news out to our customer base that we are available in their locations,” said Surf Kenya managing director Mark Summer as reported by the Daily Nation.
