Samuel Chege, Alfred’s driver has said that he woke up on Monday Morning and found the car missing from its usual parking spot in Mundia Estate.

The security guards on duty informed him that the Toyota Premio vehicle was driven off at around 5am in the morning.

The guards told Chege that they were asked to open the gate and let the vehicle, registration KBS 487V, and another whose registration numbers they could not remember, leave the parking lot.

In their defense, the guards claimed that they thought Chege was driving the Premio. The two cars then heared towards Garissa Road through General Kago road.

On learning about the theft, Chege immediately alerted his boss and filed a report at the Thika Police Station.

Thika OCPD Willy Samba said that his charges immediately swung into action, and also informed their counterparts from neighboring stations, who immediately joined the hunt for the stolen vehicle.

Alfred also shared the details of his stolen car on Facebook, where users shared it on their timelines which led to the vehicle’s recovery at the Matangi-ini area of Juja.

Alfred said that he decided to use Facebook because in his opinion, 'that is where almost everybody comes together'. He added that social media reaches many people, which makes it easier to spread messages.

His faith in social media was rewarded after Lucas Waweru came across and abandoned Toyota Premio in his neighborhood.

Waweru alerted security forces, then posted the discovery on his Facebook account.

Grace Wanjiku, who had come across the theft alert on Facoebook earlier in the day then contacted Alfred through the number he had provided and informed him that his vehicle had been recovered.
