Ali often stunned Kenyans through his exposes   and investigative journalism that laid to bare issues especially on corruption, terrorism and drug abuse.

In 2016, the former investigative reporter ditched his media career and announce his intentions to join politics.

In the run up to last year’s (2017) polls, Ali lost in the Nyali ODM nominations.

He accused Mombasa governor Hassan Joho of allegedly masterminding his fall. 

The former reporter, however,  contested for the seat and clinched it as an independent candidate.

Here are facts you dint know about the vocal former investigative reporter.

1. Borana 

Mohamed Ali belongs to the sparsely populated Borana community. 

 He was born on August 4, 1979 in Isiolo County.

2. Former Chief Investigative editor at KTN  

Ali’s has had an expansive media career having worked in various stations as a reported.

Before joining politics, he was the Chief Investigative editor at the Kenya Television Network.

He is known for his expose investigative series touching on corruption, drugs and terrorism dubbed ‘Jicho Pevu’.

3. Graduate

 Mohamed Ali is an alumni of Moi University.He studied Bachelor of Science (BSC), Communication and Public Relations at the Eldoret based university.

4. Family 

Mohamed Ali is married to Rukiya Noordin with whom they have two children.

The now Nyali MP is passionate about youth affairs and has vowed to end drug trafficking in Coast.

The lawmaker  recently said that he was ready to reconcile with Mombasa governor Hassan Joho with who they have not been seeing eye to eye over political issues.

Ali is among youthful politicians to watch in Coast and across the country ahead of the 2022 general election.
