Church members in one of the churches in Getare, Kisii County did not attend service blaaming its leadership for denying them to fetch water in a well found on its compound.
The members said that they have been fetching water from the well for more tha two decades now.
However, last week an assistant pastor gave orders that they should not fetch water from the well.
"We tried to question what prompted the church to do it but noone could give us a clear explanation," one of the members identified as Kimtai said.
Another member Mary Mokeira faulted the assistant pastor saying that it was wrong for him to deny the members water.
She argued that water was a blessing from God and anyone was free to fetch from the well.
They said that they were now forced to get water from another well which is found miles away.
"For that reason we decided that we cannot be members of a church that tells me to share and it is not practising that," said Mokeira.
This shocked the assistant pastor who sent a message to the members asking them to forgive him.
