Zablon Malema, chairman of the National Pentecostal Churches led the faithful in planting trees and held prayers at the site where those who died during the disputed general elections in 2008 were buried.

He said they do not want a repeat of chaos again in the county and urged the residents to coexist peacefully.

Malema said it was painful to see innocent people lose their lives due to politics during this era where the Bible advocates that neighbours should love one another.

He said the Waki Commission report stated in 2009 that the incident which captured the attention of both Kenyans and the world was the deliberate burning alive of mostly women and children from one community.

The victims were huddled together in the church on 1 January 2008. They had sought refuge in the sanctuary following a 30 December attack on their village of Kimuri, bordering Kiambaa.
