A middle-aged man who was arrested on Wednesday evening for impersonating an Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officer will be arraigned in court after investigations are through.

The suspect was arrested by EACC officers in conjunction with officers from the Kenya Forest Service.

He was arrested moments after presenting a fake EACC letter claiming that he had been sent to investigate alleged misuse of Sh200 million meant for tree seedlings.

Addressing media, head of Mau conservancy Fred Ong’ombe he realized the letter was fake and alerted EACC officers.

It also emerged that he has two pending cases of obtaining money by false pretense in Ngong and Eldoret.

“The arrest is a breakthrough in the search for people impersonating EACC moving around the country soliciting money from unsuspecting government officers,” he said.

The suspect was booked at Nakuru central police station as investigations continue.
