Omondi observed this on Friday when he addressed members of the group and stakeholders at Shemeji Hotel in Nakuru town during a Roads Safety and Garage Management Workshop.

According to Chairman Omondi, some local motor repairs and maintenance garages were operating without a licenses from the government and were actively providing poor services that contribute to road accidents.

He urged the National Transport Roads Safety Authority officials and the Nakuru County government’s Ministry of Transport to carry out investigations that will lead to a crackdown on illegal and dubious motor vehicles repairs and maintenance businesses in the county.

“We can say here authoritatively as a group that some people are running illegal motor vehicles repairs and maintenance businesses that offer very poor services. This has unfortunately contributed to many road accidents in our roads,’’ said Omondi.

He further claimed that the illegal motor vehicle garages that employ unqualified staff also collude with carjackers and other illegal spare parts dealers and are directly involved in automotive related crimes and should be eradicated from the market.
