Kenyan Anti-Counterfeit officials have nabbed 100 ready-for-sale fake toner cartridges from American firm HP.
The printers were intercepted in a sweep that led confiscation of 8,400 other components used in manufacturing fake products.
The counterfeit goods were found in a hidden warehouse in Nairobi.
HP officials tipped off by customers during the routine market inspection.
“Kenyan officials were able to identify the fact that the business was manufacturing fake print supplies and intercept the products made for market,” HP said in a statement.
Across Europe, Middle East and Africa over the last five years, approximately 12 million counterfeits and components have been seized by local authorities.
