Police officers in Molo are questioning four suspects who were arrested on Saturday while allegedly printing counterfeit money at a premise in Molo town.
Officers said they were tipped off by the public on the illegal activities at the premises, after which they staged a raid.
Molo OCPD Paul Rono said the suspects were arrested in a house where they regularly print the monies in an operation in which more than Sh80,000 fake notes and some fake 27,000 US dollars were recovered.
"Members of the public informed us that the suspects have been doing the business for a long time," Rono told the star on Tuesday.
Rono said the culprits normally dupe locals to give them genuine money in exchange of the counterfeits.
Cases of fake money minting are normally rampant in Kenya during an electioneering period.
Police have warned the public to be wary of the money they handle.
