Two men said to have made fake Parliament Identity Cards have been arrested after they allegedly fraudulently collected medicine worth Sh237,000 from two city hospitals.
Charles Otieno and Danson Ochieng' are said to have driven to the Nairobi Hospital and the Aga Khan Hospital where they posed as Parliament employees and managed to collect the drugs despite the security presence at the two medical facilities.
It is not yet clear how the two managed to convince the management of the two top hospitals to release the drugs knowing Parliament has no hospital that it manages on its own.
Some Members of Parliament, when they fall sick, seek treatment at the two facilities.
Otieno and Ochieng' were arraigned before Milimani Law Court's Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot on Tuesday and were charged with forgery.
According to the prosecution, the two made fake Parliament ID cards which they used for accessing the Nairobi and Aga Khan hospitals and made away with the drugs.
Police, after being alerted on the incident tracked the two men and arrested them at a lavish house in Lavington area. Police during the operation did not manage to find the drugs.
Judge Cheruiyot remanded the two until May 9, 2018 when the hearing of their case commences.
