Nicholas Njuguna allegedly pretended to be a police officer and arrested Francis Maina, a boda-boda operator, along Accra road.

"He took Maina towards Kamukunji police station and demanded Sh5 000 before reaching the station. Maina did not have the money so Njuguna ransacked him and took Sh350 from him," the prosecution said.

The prosecution told the senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji that the accused harassed Maina and manhandled him before taking the money.

He asked Maina to take him back to the CBD, but Maina rode fast to the police station and raised the alarm.

He was arrested and allegedly admitted to stealing the money and said he was drunk.

Njuguna denied the charges and was released on Sh50 000 bail.

The next mention of the case will be on December 23.
