The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has been blamed for delaying investigations into the killing of four young men in Kawangware by police last week.
The four were cornered at Gatina by police and killed in a chase at about 3am on Tuesday, eyewitnesses said.
This was after they had allegedly attacked and robbed a motorcyclist of his motorcycle earlier on in the area while armed with knives, according to police.
But the families of the four slain men had maintained their innocence and accused police of foul play.
A father to one of the young men killed lamented that despite reporting the matter to IPOA on Thursday last week, no action had been taken.
"They promised to contact us, but we haven't heard a word from IPOA since. We are still waiting to hear from them," said Dickson Opuka, father of Robert Okinjo.
When contacted by a local daily on Wednesday, IPOA spokesperson, Dennis Oketch, claimed a team of detectives had already been tasked with the job.
"We have a team that responds rapidly to fresh incidents like these. They will conduct preliminary investigations before advancing to full investigations," Oketch told Daily Nation.
The families, however, deny such investigations are being conducted.
"No one from IPOA has visited us," said Michael, Okinjo's brother.
