Several families in Gesonso in the outskirts of Kisii town escaped death narrowly on Sunday morning after an irate woman petrol bombed one of the apartments in what witnesses said was an attempt to kill her husband.
According to kbctv.co.ke, the woman who is reported to have had domestic issues with her husband arrived at the residential place in the wee hours and proceeded to torch her husband’s house who was in the house at the time of the incident.
Witnesses said she arrived at the apartment at midnight but her husband declined to open the door for her.
She sought accommodation within the flats only to return to her place at dawn, broke the window pane before hurling a highly inflammable liquid into the master bed room.
As the fire spread to other rooms, the husband who was able to locate the spare key to the main door and escaped before raising an alarm.
Tenants managed to put out the fire before it could consume the building.
Police are investigating the incident.
