The Geological Society of Kenya (GSK) has acknowledged the reports of the fault line that developed in Mai Mahiu a few weeks ago spreading to other areas including Nakuru.
The fault line which has cut off some feeder roads and caused people to flee from affected areas is still a hot subject to speculations some saying that it could split Africa into two.
This has made the affected families to accuse the government of doing little to save the situation by only concentrating on the Narok-Mai Mahiu road that was cut off while other places have been affected as well.
The affected people’s chairperson, Melvin Wahome expressed fears that the fault line was expanding by the day and accused the government of abandoning them.
“This line started in 2012 and we saw geologists and then the then Ministry of Special Programmes send experts here but this time we have been left alone,” said Wahome.
However, the GSK which has been carrying out studies in the areas affected by the fault across the Rift Valley said it is in the process of compiling a report to help plan for infrastructural development in the affected regions.
