According to Peterson Mwangi, who is the chairperson of the tenants, the county Government ignored a high court order which had stopped the Uasin Gishu County Government from evicting the residents of Kodhek estate.

"The county officers who were carrying out the orders told residents that they have been ordered to ensure that all residents vacate with immediate effect. This has caused a lot of suffering to residents affected and also their families," Mwangi said.

David Karanja whose family was evicted said that it seems the county wanted them out of the houses with immediate effect.

"My family has lived in this house for more than 20 years and we have been paying rent without delay. I wonder what happened since the court had ordered the county government not to evict us," Karanja said.

He urged Deputy President William Ruto to intervene on the whole issue.

"We kindly ask the Deputy President to come to our rescue and solve this matter," Karanja said.
