The 8.30pm fire is said to have started due to an electric fault in one house before spreading to other houses.

However, the county fire extinguisher vehicle arrived minutes later but unfortunately the damage was already done.

Residents said the fact that the houses were made of wood might have contributed to the spread of the fire.

“You know the houses were made of wooden material and that might have contributed to the enormous spread of the fire,” said one of the residents.

Affected families appealed to well wishers to step in and help them start life afresh.

Area MCA Wilbur Onyango, who visited the families on Sunday, said his office will also assist those affected.
