Family members of those killed in the Naivasha tragedy will have to wait for two weeks to bury their loved ones as DNA test will be carried out on all the bodies to ensure they are properly identified.
Relatives are currently undergoing a counseling session at Chiromo Mortuary before the identification exercise.
“Once they have been taken through the counseling process, we will go to the next stage of identification,” he said as quoted by capital fm.
National Disaster Operations Centre Director Retired Col Nathan Kigotho says 34 bodies are at Chiromo while six others have been taken to Kenyatta University Mortuary.
The President today while addressing the Kenyans at the Nyayo Stadium, said the country cannot continue losing lives unnecessarily due to poorly placed bumps.
“I ask the Transport Ministry to desist forthwith from erecting bumps without painting or even having proper signs…that must come to an end,” the President stated.
The accident occurred when the Ugandan registered light truck hit the bump losing control and hit an oncoming vehicle, before a flammable substance it was ferrying exploded.
