A Thika town woman has appealed to Kenyans of goodwill to help her raise Sh300,000 to cater for the hospital bills of her two boys who burned in their rented house in December 2016.
Philister Waithira, a single mother who is currently jobless, says her two boys, Mark Ngugi (6) and Manasseh Maina (4) have since December 22nd, 2017 been admitted at St Matias Mulumba Mission Hospital in Makongeni and have accrued more than half a million shillings in hospital bills.
"A group of well-wishers came together and helped me to raise some of the amount and scaled down this bill to Sh247,000. But we still have an outstanding bill at the hospital which has since discharged my boys but asked us to be reporting for daily physiotherapy medication as we continue raising money to clear the bill. The exercise will cost Sh500 daily per child," Waithira said on Monday.
Waithira says that the well-wishers who helped her raise some but of the hospital bill, have also rented a room for them near the hospital to make it easier for them to attend the physiotherapy sessions at the hospital.
However, since they lost everything in the fire, they are also looking for donations from Kenyans of goodwill to help buy them foodstuff, household items and furniture necessary for them to settle in the house, estimated to cost about Sh50,000.
"But we also don't mind if one can donate any of the household items needed. You can liaise with me directly via 0714352071 or send your donation via Paybill No. 161370 (Account Philister). Everything will be appreciated," she says.
