A family in Nairobi has been left in a state of desperation after being conned Sh50, 000 by fake city preachers.
According to the Nairobian, Enock Mudavadi lost the cash after the preachers assured to help him find his lost daughter.
Monica Mahugu, 3, is said to have been abducted by unknown men within Industrial Area on October 1.
The father, who does casual jobs in a steel company in Industrial Area, said that he was away when he received the news about the disappearance of his daughter.
“I was away from home when I received a call around 7pm from my wife informing me that Monica was nowhere to be seen in the evening,” he said as quoted by Standard Digital.
Enock further said that they searched for her for hours but their efforts were futile, something that forced them to seek help from the preachers.
“We looked for her all over the neighbourhood until 1am. That is when we reported to the police, but they asked that we fuel their vehicle first,” said Mudavadi.
He added: “One week after her disappearance, I visited a popular Church along Latema Road in the City Centre and when I asked to see a renowned lead preacher with the problem, his close aides told me to give an offering. They handed me a Sh5 000 envelope.”
The men of God promised to pray for him after he handed them the cash but nothing good came on his side.
He opted to visit another preacher who told him he had seen the kidnappers in a vision.
The preacher asked him to part with Sh5 000 again but Mudavadi refused to give the preacher the money after one of his friends warned him.
Without losing hope, he visited yet another preacher in Kawangare who also asked for Sh6 000 in order to assist him.
