A family in Njoro is calling on police to speed up investigations into an incident in which a 46-year-old man was on Tuesday night shot with an arrow in Mwireri village Njoro.
The family of Joseph Njuguna said no arrests have been made so far since the incident happened.
The father of three was shot on the left hand as he returned home after assisting in putting out a fire that was consuming a neighboring farm.
He was however treated at a local private hospital and discharged.
Njuguna said that upon reaching his gate, he found two armed men who asked him to sit down but he defied.
A scuffle ensued and that is when he was shot with an arrow as his colleague sustained an injury.
“As we approached my gate we found two armed men who asked me to sit down but I defied and that is when I was shot with an arrow as my colleague sustained a bruise on the chest after an arrow tore through his coat and shirt,” he said.
The two attackers later fled into a nearby thicket leaving behind a hammer.
Njuguna said that although the matter was reported to the local chief and the police, no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
He has called on police to hasten investigations into the matter.
