A family in Mwongori village Ekerubo Borabu Nyamira County has called on police to intensify patrols to curb cattle rustling.

The family led by John Magena said they have been forced to spend the nights in the cold to protect their animals.

Magena attributed increased livestock theft in the region to illicit brew because the thieves pretend to be customers but later they end up stealing the animals at night.

“Security teams must be more vigilant to protect people and property. For the last two months, thieves have stolen 4 cows from our family but on Wednesday they attempted to steal the only left but in vain. Chiefs should ensure illicit brew in the area ends which has contributed to increased cattle rustling,” he said.

He asked Nyamira county commissioner Isaiah Nakoru to intervene and ensure police are not sleeping in their job especially at night.
