The government has released a report about the cause of former Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo four years after his death. The government states that the politician died of over bleeding. The report was tabled in Machakos Law Courts by Dr. S.W Mwangi who is a general practitioner based in Nakuru.
“Mr Kilonzo died of massive hemorrhage into the chest and cranial cavity due to significantly elevated blood pressure due to several factors including but not limited to excessive ingestion of pseudoephedrine (nasal/sinus decongestant) in combination with caffeine,” reads part of the report.
Dr Mwangi testified what he knows about the loss that shook Ukambani and Kenya at large. He used family reports that confirmed that the Senator did not complain of any pain or fall sick before his departure. He confirmed that he examined Mutula’s body four hours after he was reported dead.
However, Mutula Kilonzo’s family has disowned the report. They have complained about the lack of cooperation from the government.
“Dr Mwangi is not a pathologist but a general practitioner, although he was in the team of pathologists who conducted the autopsy of the late senior lawyer. The report should have been given to the family first before being produced in court,” said a family member as quoted by Nation.
They are demanding serious action from the government. According to the family member, someone had a hand in Mutula’s death and he/she must be brought to book.
“The government should come clean and hold somebody responsible for the interference since he could not have been allowed to travel with the samples. They had to be delivered with the full knowledge of the government agencies,” he added.
