Florence Nyambura, a mother of four, is in distress after she was conned her daughter’s school fees by an unknown person in Kiambu town.
This is as she was coming from Equity Bank Kiambu Branch where a smart man in a suit who pretended to be a staff from the bank accosted her.
Florence’s daughter Maureen Wanjiru schooled at Kiambu Primary school and she managed to score 359 Marks which she said she couldn’t believe due to the hard times she had gone through.
As she narrated her ordeal, Florence said it all started when she went at the bank to return “Wings to Fly” form that she had filled for her daughter to try her luck and after dropping the form she went out to call her female friend when the young man stopped her.
“Little did I knew that he was a Conman. After giving my story to him I went back to my single room rental house and came with Sh10,000, which I gave to him to support me in getting access to the Wings to Fly,” recounted Nyambura.
Florence who could not hold her tears is now calling for people of good will to assist her to take her daughter to Tumutumou Girls in Nyeri where her daughter was to join.
On her part, Maureen, who is the second child, said it was a challenge for her since when her mum goes out for jobs she used to take care of her siblings by washing and cooking for them and after they get to sleep she starts her homework and study until late hours.
She called upon the CS Fred Matiang’i to kindly urge the school to reserve her position as the family waits for a well-wisher who can sponsor her daughter to school.
“I feel hopeless when I think the fact that my friends have joined the school and yet I am in the village where I accompany my mother to help her wash clothes to earn a daily bread,” Wanjiru lamented.
