A family in Ndumberi, Kiambu was on Tuesday forced to exhume a body they had buried.
This is after it emerged that the body buried at the Ndumberi Cemetery belonged to another family from Kibiku in Wangige.
The Wangige family had gone to transfer the body from Kiambu District Hospital Mortuary to Kihara Mortuary on Monday only to realise that the body was missing.
However, concerted efforts between the hospital administration and the family traced the body to Ndumberi where the family of one Margaret Wangui had buried the body that was not hers.
"We collected Wangui's body and buried it just to be called later to be told that our body was still in the mortuary. We have come here today and indeed it is ours," said James Gichuki, Wangui's brother.
Pastor Samuel Thiru who represented the Wangige family said that the burial will be conducted today as it had earlier been planned.
Nyathuna MCA Kiarie Munyua thanked both families for resolving the matter amicably.
