Family, neighbours and friends of the bereave had gathered to bury the late Simon Waweru when the inevitable and unexpected occurred after the deceased brother James Gichuhi arrived with a Court order barring the burial to take place on the piece of land.

Since the death of Waweru, nothing in relation to land inheritance had come up, or reasons for indifferences between the two brothers whatsoever.

Another brother Stephen Njoroge said the piece of land where the late was to be buried was set aside by their late father as a graveyard, but their brother, Gichuhi came out claiming that the specified land was where his father allocated him to inherit.

“My brother has come with a Court order laying claim of ownership of the piece of land on which the grave of my late brother was dug,” said Njoroge.

Area Chief Peter Njoroge confirmed the incident saying, “The planned burial for the late Waweru has been stopped but I hope the family members will come to an agreement and lay the deceased to rest,” said Chief Njoroge.

Chief Njoroge added that government officers would intervene in the stalemate to see that there are no more squabbles,in case the family members do not solve their differences in time.

“Land issues keep coming up in this area because it is a precious asset in this area, owing to the fact that were are next to Nairobi City. I urge all families especially parents to write a will on inheritance to act as a legal guide once they pass on,” added Chief Njoroge.

Police from Kikuyu Police Station arrived at the home to maintain peace and ensure the family did not engage in any physical war.
