Police officers were forced to hurl tear gas canisters at hungry Jogoo residents to disperse them after a heated row ensued between the villagers and men digging a grave to bury a dead body.
Kisii Police officers later succeeded to salvage the corpse and reimposed it to Kisii teaching and Referral Hospital.
A witness told Hivisasa that they were shocked when they woke up only to find some hired men digging a grave to bury the body of a woman who had stayed at the mortuary for nine months.
"That is when we stood against the burial arrangements because there are some issues that should be sorted before we allow the woman to be buried," said Adams Kaka, a local.
The locals were then forced to rise to the occasion and send the six men who were digging the grave away.
Another local Abraham Kimosi said that there is need of giving the lady who was murdered in cold blood a proper send off.
"We cannot allow the woman to be buried like a dog. We shall ensure that the burial is conducted with the seriousness it deserves," said Mr Kimosi.
The late was murdered by unknown people who killed her before dumping her body in the estate.
