Paul Karanja, whose family was vastly affected by the flour, said that they had bought the wheat flour from a local posho mill on Wednesday evening.

"We buy our wheat flour there often and also take our maize for grinding too. The flour is usually ready so we just buy and leave," said Karanja.

Karanja speaking at his homestead, Friday morning, said that many people who bought the wheat flour have similar symptoms.

"Symptoms vary from stomach pains, dry mouth, nausea, eyes weakening and general body weakness," he said.

Karanja added: "We know that many people had bought the flour and we would like to warn them against using it for cooking purposes. Today being a holiday, many could fall victims."

He says the victims were rushed to Kiambu District Hospital by ambulance and they are said to be in a stable condition.
