A family in Nyataro village in Kisii County is yet to come to terms after their 1-year-old baby was stolen from their house.

Willy Moseti and his wife Jackline Moseti said their baby was stolen on Tuesday from their house where she was sleeping.

Ms Moseti said she had left the baby on the bed sleeping and left to fetch water from a spring few meters away but didn't find the baby on returning.

“She was sleeping at around 5 pm when I left to fetch water but, coming back I didn’t find her in bed where I had left her. I don’t know who stole the baby,” she said.

Mr Moseti said he was at work in Kisii town when the incident happened.

“Neighbors said a woman came into the compound immediately my wife left to fetch water. It seems she is a dealer and police should trace her to help know where the baby is,” he said.

Kisii County police boss Hassan Abdi on Friday confirmed that the family reported the matter to police who have launched investigations.

“Police are still looking for the woman said to have gone to the home the same day the baby went missing. The suspect will be traced and arrested,” he said.
