A family in Juja, Kiambu County is worried after their daughter who was studying at Muthiga Girls Secondary School disappeared in unclear circumstances.
Stella Wanjiku, 16, allegedly disappeared last month but the school administration never notified her parents of the matter until after two weeks. Her mother, Lucy Muthoni, says that it is alleged that Wanjiku left the school with other students when they were sent home for fees.
"The school called me two weeks after my daughter disappeared from the school saying that she could have escaped that day. Her fees had been cleared," Muthoni says.
The mother added that her search for the girl and even reporting to the police has not yielded any results.
"I was told to report to Gatundu Police station because the school is around that area", adds the troubled mother.
Muthoni now blames the school for being sluggish in handling the matter. The school said the matter is under police investigation and cannot comment.
