[Photo/Busia County Government]Veteran musician of the "Lunch Time" fame Gabriel Omolo Aginga has died aged 79 years. Omolo from Nyabeda Village, Ugunja Constituency, Siaya County, died at the Busia County, Teaching Referral Hospital on Wednesday night where he was admitted on Tuesday.Speaking at the hospital on Thursday, Maurice Okoth said his brother died after battling with tuberculosis and other ailments arising from road accidents he suffered."Our brother brought fame to the country in 1976 when he won an award for being the best soloist in Africa. The National government should reciprocate that gesture by offering help to the family which has lost the sole bread winner," he said."Many musicians have emulated Gabriel's talents. It will be worthwhile for the Government to reward such a hero whose checkered career earned him international," he added.Okoth said his brother spent his time at his home in Ugunja writing songs and playing his guitar. The deceased widow Alice Adeya Omolo said it was a big blow to the family for losing a loving husband who made her travel far and wide to receive various awards.The family moved his body to Sega Mortuary in Siaya County. He leaves behind a widow and five children.
