A family of six are counting losses after fire burnt their house with every household in it on Tuesday in Gitithia village, Lari sub-county in Kiambu County.
The cause of the fire which burnt four-roomed wooden house in less than an hour on Tuesday afternoon despite efforts by their neighbours to put it out, has not yet been known as the area police officers started investigation to find out the cause of it.
The owner of the house Francis Macharia who was at work when the fire started said he received an alarming calls from his neighbours informing him about the inferno.
“I was so shocked after receiving numerous calls from my neighbours telling me that my house is on fire,” said Macharia.
Area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Joseph Githaiga and Member of Parliament (MP) Mburu Kahangara who went to console the family, sympathised with them and promised to help the acquire a new house.
“As leaders, we shall assist in any way to ensure that the family gets back on its feet,” said MP Kahangara.
