Six women have been rescued in Kabete from men who have been sexually abusing them.
Among the abusers is the women’s father who has been taking advantage of the mentally challenged women.
The rescue operation on Thursday was carried out by activists against gender-based violence. The women include four sisters aged between 15 and 30. There were also two girls aged 10 and 11, daughters to one of the four sisters.
Kiangari village community policing officer David Gachuruba said the women have been suffering as neighbours watch.
The mother to the four women is also mentally challenged and currently, one of the girls is pregnant and the father is the suspect.
None of the girls, however, can coherently explain what has been happening.
Gachuruba said some unknown men have been raping the girls in turns since the arrest of their father. The men allegedly go to the family’s home in the guise of robbery.
"The criminals normally declare that since the family has no money to pay them, they have to rape the girls until their debt has been paid," he said as quoted by the Star.
Kiambu woman rep Annah Nyokabi who was in the rescue mission condemned the heinous act saying it is unfortunate that people would choose to abuse the girls because of their ignorance.
She said they are pushing to have Gender Based Violence Centres established in all counties for such survivors.
