A family in Mbondoni Location in Kangundo sub-county on Saturday was in shock and disbelief after they were prevented from taking the body of their lady by a Court order.
Family and friends arrived in Kangundo Hospital Mortuary to take the remains of their daughter, but they could not following a Court order which was presented to them.
The family of the late Teresia Ndunge who has been ailing for a long time, had prepared the burial ceremony and cleared all the Hospital bills only to be told that they could not take the body.
Speaking on Saturday afternoon at the family home in Mbondoni, the mother of the late Ndunge Jacinta Mutunga expressed her grief describing her disappointment in people she alleged were taking advantage of her daughter’s death to get money from people for their own gain.
Mutunga stated that the person behind the Court order that stopped the burial arrangement was the Kangundo town Chairman Chris Kyalo.
“I have been searching for money to pay for my daughter’s Hospital bill which had piled up to Sh1.2 million. On Thursday I got the amount and cleared the bill. I have been shocked on reaching the mortuary I was told I could not take the body following a court order from Chris Kyalo,” said Mutunga.
According to the brother of the late Teresia Ndunge, Josphat Mutuku Chris Kyalo was using Ndunge’s death for his selfish ambitions of getting money from residents.
On reaching to Chris Kyalo he stated that the bills have not been paid and the family was trying to block the arranged Harambee to raise the Hospital bill.
“The bill in Hospital is not Sh1.2 million, but 2.2 million and nothing has been paid yet. The fundraising will be held in April 25 2015,” claimed Kyalo,
This twist in the information left people in dilemma of whom to believe even as the mother of the deceased has a receipt confirming the paid Hospital bill.
