A family in Rhonda Estate in the outskirts of Nakuru town is calling for assistance to curb jigger menace that has terrorise that family for a decade now.
The family of Jacob Koech is under severe jiggers attack which has contributed to Jacob’s children drop out of school.
Koech said his family was first attacked by the menace in 2005 and since then the situation has been escalating despite using pesticides and sisal saps to curb the problem.
"We were first attacked by jiggers in 2005, since then our lives have not been the same despite the efforts we have put to eradicate the jiggers,” said Koech.
Koech, his wife Janet and their three children have been attacked from legs, battocks and hands making them vulnerable to to other diseases.
He is now calling for well-wishers to come and save his family from deadly jiggers which some of their neighbours term as a curse to the family.
Mary Wangui who is a cousin to the family said they have tried their level best to treat the jiggers, without any success.
She urged the county government and other well-wishers like AHADI Kenya to intervene in assisting the family to curb the menace.
"We have tried our level best to assist but we are difeated. I urge the county government and other stake holders like AHADI Kenya to assist the family,” appealed Wangui.
Jigger menace has been a major problem to many families in Kenya especially making so many people to stop wearing shoes nor even walk.
